Lemongrass Beeswax Candle - Natural Mosquito & Insect Repellant
Essential oils are an effective solution for invading insects.  Lemongrass essential oil is as potent as any commercial insecticide. Because of its high citral and geraniol content, lemongrass oil is known to repel bugs such as mosquitoes and ants. Lemongrass is a tall, aromatic, perennial, fast growing grass. Lemongrass oil is extracted from the leaves of the plant.  It has a strong, fresh, lemony, and earthy scent.  Spray it around your home, diffuse it, or you can  make your own Lemongrass beeswax candle to use indoors and outdoors as a natural mosquito and insect repellant.

Lemongrass Beeswax Candle – Natural Mosquito & Insect Repellant

Ingredients
  • 1 pound Beeswax  (where to buy)
  • Candle container
  • 40 drops lemongrass essential oil
  • A small saucepan
  • Cotton candle wicks (where to find)
  • Skewers or chopsticks
Directions
  1. Pour water into your saucepan until it is 2 inches high, and place on the stove over medium heat. Begin by melting your beeswax in a glass bowl over your saucepan of boiling water.
  2. Once the beeswax is melted, remove from saucepan, and place on the counter. Add 40 drops of lemongrass essential oil.
  3. Pour the beeswax into your candle containers, making sure to leave at least ½” headspace.
  4. Place one candle wick in each jar. Use chopsticks or wooden skewers to hold the wicks in place until the wax has dried.
  5. Allow the candle to cool completely. Once set, trim the wick to 1-inch above the wax.
Remember, there are many cheap, synthetic versions of aromatic oils, but these are not recommended for therapeutic use. For best results use the highest quality oils you can possibly find. Use certified organic essential oils, or oils that have been tested and are pesticide free.
